North Park University’s softball team played two games against Lawrence University recently. They had a mixed day at Whiting Field, losing the first match but bouncing back strong to win the second.

Game 1: North Park 1, Lawrence 4

North Park got off to a good start. Senior Eden Baker hit a double and scored after Kayla Lorenz’s double. However, Lawrence answered back in the fourth inning. Gillian Guerriero kicked off the rally with a double, and Avery Chilson followed up with a critical two-run single. Lawrence extended their lead with another RBI from Callie Rozak, securing a 4-1 victory. Chilson pitched a complete game, limiting North Park’s offense to just one run.

Game 2: North Park 6, Lawrence 3 (8 innings)

In the second game, North Park showed resilience. After trailing, they started scoring in the fifth inning. Raquel Hare’s single set the stage for Chloe Bader, who drove in a run. The game changed dramatically in the eighth inning. Hare hit a decisive RBI double that sparked a three-run rally, followed by contributions from Kathryn Keehn and another sac fly from Bader. The team’s strong finish led them to a solid 6-3 victory.

A highlight of the day was Baker achieving her 40th steal, tying the all-time record at North Park.
