Lindenwood’s softball team is gearing up for an exciting matchup against Saint Louis University on March 19th. This game, held at the Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, marks the Lions’ final non-conference outing of the season. Currently, Lindenwood has a record of 12-12, recently evening their Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) record to 3-3 after a successful series against UT Martin.
Both teams have faced similar opponents this season, and their past matchups add a layer of intrigue. Lindenwood and Saint Louis have played each other four times since Lindenwood moved up to Division I. The Lions lost the first two games but bounced back last year with a solid sweep, winning 1-0 and 7-5.
In a recent series against UT Martin, Lindenwood showcased a strong combination of offense and defense. They played through some weather disruptions, ultimately winning two out of three games. Avery Wapp starred on the mound, allowing only four earned runs over 10.2 innings. Ryleigh Owens also contributed with a strong pitching performance in the first game of the series.
At the plate, Dallis Darnell led the team with a .444 batting average during the UT Martin series, while Jolie McMinn continues to impress, driving in six runs over the weekend. Both players, along with Irelynn West and Tori Hatton, are key offensive assets for the Lions.
Looking at the OVC landscape, Southeast Missouri State is currently favored for the 2025 season, reflecting their success last year. Meanwhile, Lindenwood is focused on improving their record as they head back to conference play.
Head coach Erin Brown is in her fourth season, working to build on Lindenwood’s recent achievements, including a strong performance at home and a push towards the OVC Tournament.
As Lindenwood prepares for their next home series against Tennessee State, fans are looking forward to more action as the season continues.
