India to Host the Second Asian Yogasana Championship in March

India will welcome athletes from 16 countries for the Second Asian Yogasana Championship. This event takes place at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi from March 29 to 31.
The championship is organized with support from the Sports Ministry and Yogasana Bharat. The goal is to highlight Yogasana on an international stage while celebrating its cultural roots.
The event has backing from several organizations, including the Olympic Council of Asia and World Yogasana. It aims to pave the way for including Yogasana in the Olympic curriculum.
“As the birthplace of yoga, India is proud to host this championship,” said Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. “This is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of our ancient practice becoming a competitive sport.”
Sanjay Malpani, president of Asian Yogasana, stressed the importance of this event in establishing Yogasana as a recognized sport globally. He highlighted how it combines tradition with modern athleticism.
Jaideep Arya, secretary-general of World Yogasana, mentioned that the Delhi championship is crucial for promoting Yogasana as a competitive discipline.
Udit Sheth, president of Yogasana Bharat, emphasized the organization’s commitment to nurturing young talent and raising the profile of Yogasana worldwide.

Senior Women National Championship: Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh Celebrate Victories
In the ongoing Senior Women National Championship, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh achieved impressive wins in their Division ‘B’ matches.
Uttarakhand faced Telangana and won 1-0, thanks to Vartika Rawat’s goal at the 45-minute mark. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh edged past Delhi with a 2-1 victory. Delhi’s Sonali opened the scoring, but Chhattisgarh responded with goals from Leena Kosare and Lahare Mamteshwari.
In another match, Hockey Chandigarh secured a 4-1 triumph over Hockey Himachal, featuring standout performances from Sonu, who scored twice, alongside Raveena Rani and Captain Rakhi.
Tennis
ITF Women’s Tennis Tournament: Aditi Rawat Exits in First Round
In the ITF women’s tennis tournament, Aditi Rawat faced a tough opponent in fourth seed Haruka Kaji of Japan, losing 6-2, 6-0. Aditi, only 17, was playing in her sixth ITF event.
Despite her early exit, she has shown great potential in previous tournaments, where she managed to qualify and perform well.
Meanwhile, Shruti Ahlawat advanced to the main draw by defeating fifth seed Akiko Omae. After overcoming a back injury, Shruti is eager to make her mark again.
Pooja Ingale also qualified, joining the main draw after her opponent retired due to health issues.
Doubles results showed Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Vaidehi Chaudhari winning a tight match, while Akanksha Nitture and Soha Sadiq advanced as well.

Boxing Federation of India to Hold Elections on March 28
