Exciting Summer 2025: Air India Unveils New Service Changes to London – What Travelers Need to Know!

DELHI: Air India, owned by the Tata Group, is making big changes to its flight schedule to London for the Northern Summer 2025 season. These updates will adjust the number of flights on several routes between India and the UK, starting in late March and early April 2025.

These changes come in response to shifting travel demand and the airline’s strategy to improve its international network.

Here’s a look at some of the main updates:

Goa Mopa (GOX) – London Gatwick (LGW)
  • Current frequency: 4 flights per week
  • New frequency: 3 flights per week

Starting March 30, 2025, Air India will reduce flights on this route. This change suggests a slight decline in demand for direct flights between Goa and London Gatwick. Goa is a popular destination, especially for UK tourists, and frequency changes may continue based on passenger trends.

Amritsar (ATQ) – London Gatwick (LGW)
  • Current frequency: 3 flights per week
  • New frequency: 4 flights per week

From April 5, 2025, Air India will increase flights to four times a week between Amritsar and London Gatwick. This is a response to strong travel demand, as many people from the Punjabi community in London seek to visit family back home.

Kochi (COK) – London Gatwick (LGW)
  • Current frequency: 3 flights per week
  • New frequency: Service suspended

Starting March 30, 2025, flights between Kochi and London Gatwick will be suspended. This means travelers from Kerala will need to consider connecting flights through other Indian cities.

London Gatwick plays a vital role as a secondary airport for Air India, mainly catering to travelers looking for affordable options. While Heathrow is the main hub, Gatwick offers a crucial link for many leisure travelers and those visiting family. Currently, Air India operates flights to Gatwick from Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi, all of which support various communities in the UK.

Air India is continually adjusting its network to better meet demand and optimize operations. Recent fleet shortages have limited some expansion plans, including flights to key U.S. destinations. By reallocating resources, the airline aims to focus on routes with higher demand and potential profits.
