Peter Mohler is set to leave Ohio State University this summer. He will become the 30th president of the University of Alabama. His departure was officially announced by the university, and he has received congratulations for this new role.

Mohler has played a significant part at Ohio State. He was the executive vice president for the Enterprise for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge. He also briefly took on the role of interim president before the new president, Walter “Ted” Carter Jr., stepped in.

With a strong background in academic and medical research, Mohler is well-regarded in his field. He has received multiple awards, including recognition from the American Heart Association, and has published over 250 works focusing on heart health, particularly in adolescents.

Before his current role, Mohler led the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute. He also served as chair of the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology and was vice dean of research in the College of Medicine at Ohio State.

As he transitions to the University of Alabama, Mohler will oversee a large institution with over 40,000 students. His focus will be on advancing the university’s research and academic missions. A spokesperson noted that more details about his move will be shared soon.
