Exciting Update for Train Travelers: Indian Railways Unveils First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Connecting [City A] and [City B]!

Indian Railways is introducing an exciting upgrade to overnight train travel with the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this during a recent meeting in New Delhi. He highlighted that this new sleeper train marks a significant improvement for long-distance passengers. The focus in 2026 will be on enhancing passenger comfort.

This sleeper train has completed all necessary trials and certifications. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the service in January 2026, beginning with the route between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal. This change promises faster and more comfortable overnight travel.

The new train will enhance connectivity between Assam and West Bengal. It will pass through key districts, including Kamrup Metropolitan and Bongaigaon in Assam, as well as Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Maldah, Murshidabad, Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, and Howrah in West Bengal. This improved route will benefit travelers for work, education, and tourism.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will feature 16 air-conditioned coaches, including 11 AC 3-tier, four AC 2-tier, and one AC First Class coach. It can accommodate around 823 passengers. Designed for overnight travel, the train will leave in the evening and arrive the next morning. Passengers can expect comfortable berths, advanced suspension for a smooth ride, and modern safety features.

Additionally, the onboard experience aims to delight taste buds. Travelers boarding in Guwahati will enjoy Assamese dishes, while those from Howrah can savor traditional Bengali cuisine, adding a local touch to their journey.
