Indian Railways is making travel easier for those heading to Jammu and Kashmir. They’ve launched two Vande Bharat Express trains that cut the journey from Katra to Srinagar to just 3 hours and 5 minutes. This makes it much quicker than the usual 6 to 8 hours by road.
The first train departs from Katra at 8:10 AM and arrives in Srinagar by 11:10 AM. The second train leaves at 2:55 PM, reaching Srinagar at 6 PM. There are also return trains, making it convenient for both locals and tourists looking to explore the beautiful valleys of Kashmir.
Dilip Kumar from the Railway Board shared that these trains will run daily, helping ease the travel burden in a region where road connectivity can often be unreliable, especially during bad weather.
Additionally, Jammu Tawi station is getting an upgrade. It’s being developed as an Amrit station, aimed at enhancing facilities. Once completed, it may offer more connections, potentially even to Delhi, further improving access to this scenic area.
The introduction of these trains comes at a time when tourism in Jammu and Kashmir is on the rise. A recent survey indicated that travel to this region increased by 15% in the last year. Tourists are looking for hassle-free ways to experience the stunning landscapes and rich culture.
The Vande Bharat trains not only save time but also provide a modern and comfortable travel option. As travel expert Rajesh Sharma notes, “Investments in railway infrastructure like this can significantly boost tourism and the local economy.”
In summary, the new Vande Bharat Express trains are a game-changer for travel in Jammu and Kashmir, making it easier than ever to explore the region. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, these trains create opportunities for adventure and connection.
