Team Cherry has shared that they are still developing new content for “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” but they aren’t ready to reveal when it will be released. The game launched in September to much excitement, yet the team isn’t finished.
Ari Gibson, co-founder of Team Cherry, mentioned, “We didn’t plan seven years for Silksong. We stick to our development philosophy, which can sometimes extend timelines.” This approach seems to prioritize quality over speed.
Originally, “Silksong” was supposed to be downloadable content for the first “Hollow Knight.” However, it evolved into a standalone game. Fans wonder what additional content is on the horizon. Bloomberg speculated that a DLC featuring Steel Assassin Sharpe could be in the works. This character, hinted at in a blog post years ago, didn’t make it into the final game.
Gibson described Sharpe as “waiting in the wings,” ready to be integrated into the game once everything is polished. “We’ll honor our commitments, and we have some fun ideas to enhance the world,” he added. The process requires juggling many elements, but the team is enthusiastic about what’s to come.
When asked if they want to speed up their next project, William Pellen, co-founder, replied, “We had no idea how long it would take for either game.” They let the idea grow organically, indicating they might approach future projects similarly.
Gibson reassured fans that there’s no rush. They are satisfied with how “Silksong” has turned out so far, following numerous balance tweaks and updates. They are considering various update sizes, similar to past DLC like “Lifeblood” or “Godmaster.”
Pellen noted, “We’ve begun creating new additions, but we’re still enjoying this world.” Therefore, while no release dates are set, more information will be shared soon. The duo plans to keep communication open as developments happen.
This ongoing work is exciting news for fans. A recent review highlighted “Hollow Knight: Silksong” as “pretty and charmingly mean-spirited,” filled with surprises and unique personality.
Interestingly, the game’s challenge has also sparked discussions about using mods to adjust difficulty. This reflects a broader trend in gaming where players seek personalized experiences, aiming to balance challenge and enjoyment. According to a recent survey, about 42% of gamers appreciate the option to modify difficulty settings to enhance their gameplay experience.
As “Silksong” continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to see how Team Cherry blends player feedback with their creative direction.
