Microsoft is listening to user feedback—over 7,600 pieces were reviewed to guide these changes. Aria Hanson from Microsoft explained that this initiative aims to address the frustrations many users face with frequent updates. The goal is to make the update process smoother by reducing the number of monthly restarts and consolidating updates for drivers and firmware.
An interesting statistic from Microsoft shows that users experience fewer interruptions with these new options. For instance, you’ll be able to re-pause updates in 35-day intervals or choose a specific end date for the pause. Many Windows Insiders are already testing these features in the newly launched Experimental Channel.
“There are few things more frustrating than sitting down to use your computer, only to find that it requires an update,” Hanson noted. This sentiment resonates widely on social platforms like Reddit, where users often express similar frustrations. With the new updates, Microsoft aims to make these frustrations a thing of the past.
