Exclusive Insights: Attorney General Pamela Bondi and Deputy AG Emil Bove Connect with Son of DEA Hero Enrique ‘Kiki’ Camarena

Attorney General Pamela Bondi and Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove had an important phone call with Judge Enrique Camarena, the son of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. In 1985, Kiki was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered. This week, his alleged killer, Rafael Caro Quintero, was captured along with 28 other suspects and will now face justice in the U.S.

Bondi emphasized the commitment to hold cartel members accountable and to seek justice for victims’ families. “It was an honor to speak with Judge Camarena and express my condolences for his loss. We will not stop until justice is served,” she stated.

The Camarena family shared their emotions about this long-awaited moment. They expressed gratitude after 40 years of waiting for justice. “There are no words to describe the pain we’ve endured—the empty chair at the table, the birthdays, and holidays without him. We’ve lived with this loss every day,” they said.

After 14,631 days of hope, they finally see accountability becoming a reality. While they acknowledge that no amount of time can bring Kiki back, they view this moment as a step toward justice.

They thanked the DEA, law enforcement, and officials who worked tirelessly on this case, both in the U.S. and abroad. They expressed appreciation for President Trump and everyone involved over the four decades. Their gratitude extends to friends, family, and even strangers who have supported them throughout this journey.
