Kuwait City recently hosted an exciting celebration called Bharat Mela. Organized by the Indian Embassy and the Touristic Enterprise Company, this vibrant event took place on February 13, 2026, at Green Island. More than 250,000 people attended, enjoying a showcase of India’s rich culture and diversity.
The festival kicked off with the warmth of Kerala’s traditional ‘Panchavadyam’ music, which set a festive tone. Mrs. Paramita Tripathi, the Ambassador-Designate of India to Kuwait, emphasized the importance of cultural connections in her opening remarks. She noted how these events strengthen ties between India and Kuwait and praised the Indian community for promoting friendship between the two nations.
Bharat Mela transformed the beachfront into a colorful cultural hub, offering a delightful experience for everyone:
- Culinary Delights: Attendees had the chance to savor a wide array of Indian dishes, from spicy northern curries to sweet southern treats. The food stalls featured everything from street snacks to festive sweets, making it a true feast for the senses.
- Live Performances: Over 700 artists showcased a mix of classical and folk dances, traditional music, and yoga performances. The audience adored the vibrant acts, including energetic flash mobs and lively Punjabi dhol players. The variety of performances highlighted India’s rich regional cultures.
- Cultural Exhibits: The exhibits displayed beautiful textiles, handicrafts, and artistic traditions. Visitors enjoyed interactive experiences like traditional dress presentations and henna art, offering a personal connection to India’s heritage.
With more than 30 stalls, including a special area for kids, Bharat Mela was a family-friendly event. From noon until 8 PM, families gathered by the sea to soak in the festive atmosphere, creating a sense of community and joy.
