Sitting in her dressing room, Bronson sparkles in her dazzling costume. She pulls out a treasured photo of her younger self with a Rockette beside her.
“I was lucky to see the Christmas Spectacular when I was eight,” Bronson shares. “I immediately fell in love! Meeting a Rockette inspired me. Now, every time I wear this costume, I think, ‘Oh my god, I’m a Rockette!'”
From November to New Year’s, Bronson and her fellow Rockettes perform up to four shows a day. But despite the demanding schedule, she never gets tired of the magic.
“It’s such an honor to be part of someone’s Christmas tradition, whether it’s their first time or the sixtieth,” she adds with enthusiasm. “I didn’t have that tradition, but it’s amazing to share that experience with families.”
Recently, the BBC chatted with Bronson about how she finds the Christmas spirit in New York City outside of her performances. Here are some of her favorite ways to celebrate.
New York transforms during the holiday season. The lights, the decorations, and the festive atmosphere create a unique experience. According to a recent survey by Eventbrite, around 60% of people say holiday traditions contribute to their happiness. It’s clear that events like the Christmas Spectacular play a big part in that joy.
For Bronson and many like her, Christmas is a time filled with passion and dedication. It’s a reminder of why they love performing and connecting with audiences. “It’s a privilege to spread joy,” she concludes.
