The International Student Council is excited to host Taste the Nations at Trevecca Community Church on April 17 at 6 p.m.
“Taste the Nations is a unique chance to meet people from around the world and experience their cultures,” says David Moran, a sophomore studying electrical and computer engineering. He’s this year’s host of the event.
This year, Taste the Nations will focus on a World Cup theme, bringing a lively atmosphere. “We want a variety of foods and a theme that resonates with the international community,” shares Ricardo Barahona, president of the International Student Council.
Rebecca Merrick, director of global engagement, mentions that they are aiming for a smoother experience. “We’re organizing the food better so everyone can sample everything without the chaos,” she explains.
In addition to delicious food, there will be World Cup trivia to engage participants. Tickets are priced at $5 and can be purchased during lunchtime throughout the week or at the door on the event day.
For many, the event offers more than just food. “The biggest reward is spiritual,” Moran states. “We incorporate the message of unity in our events. Regardless of where we come from, we share a common bond as humans, united by one God.”
According to a recent survey by the Institute of International Education, almost 1 million international students study in the U.S. each year. This growing population enriches campuses, making events like Taste the Nations essential for building community and cultural understanding.
Social media buzz around this event showcases excitement. Posts and shares highlight the variety of foods and performances, generating interest among students. Many express their eagerness to participate and learn from one another.
Events like this not only celebrate diversity but also foster connections that can last a lifetime.
