Hilton has launched a new winter-only hotel, The Green Leaf Niseko Village, in Japan’s thriving ski resort of Niseko. Opened on January 21, 2026, this addition marks Hilton’s first Tapestry Collection property in the country and enhances accommodation options in Hokkaido during peak winter months.

Situated right at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri, this hotel is designed for immediate access to the slopes. Guests can ski in and out without needing shuttle services. The 200 rooms, including suites, are intended for quick winter getaways, featuring ski lockers and direct lift connections.

Interestingly, The Green Leaf is a seasonal hotel, remaining closed during the warmer months. Meals and wellness services are tailored to the winter season, with facilities available only during this time.

The hotel’s design pays homage to Japan’s winter beauty. Over 200 unique artworks by artist Soichiro Tomioka adorn the hallways and guest rooms, depicting serene winter landscapes. Additionally, local artist Emi Shiratori has contributed striking murals, enhancing the lobby and entrance areas with a vibrant touch.

The dining experience at The Green Leaf is built around a ski day. The main restaurant, Goshiki, offers a diverse menu for both lunch and dinner. Also, the lobby lounge, Tomioka White, serves as a cozy spot for appetizers and post-ski relaxation.

For relaxation, guests can enjoy the Green Leaf Onsen, drawing from natural hot springs, or visit the Juhyo Spa for specialized treatments catered to post-ski recovery. A fitness center is also available for those looking to stay active during their visit.

This initiative comes at a time when ski tourism is seeing a resurgence. According to recent statistics, Japan’s ski destinations have reported a 30% increase in international visitors from previous years. Names like Niseko have become particularly popular among travelers from Australia, especially during the winter months when the snow conditions are ideal.
