Bose has unveiled the QuietComfort Ultra 2nd Gen headphones, a sleek upgrade to their popular line. While the design doesn’t stray far from the first generation, some thoughtful enhancements stand out. The logo is now inlaid instead of printed, adding a touch of elegance. The aluminum parts have a polished finish, which, though prone to fingerprints, looks great.
Weighing in at just 250 grams, these headphones are comfortable for long use. They come in four stylish colors: Black, Midnight Violet, Driftwood Sand, and White. Crucially, the earcups use plastic, but the headband and ear cushions are made of protein leather, often known as synthetic leather.
The QuietComfort Ultra 2 headphones shine with their improved ActiveSense technology. They offer even better noise cancellation and automatic pairing when worn. Removing them triggers a low-power mode, extending battery life. They still feature a Quiet Mode for total silence or Aware Mode to keep you aware of your surroundings.
New to this model is a cinema mode that enhances sound during video playback, offering spatial audio that makes watching movies feel immersive. Bose also claims improved bass and clarity at high volumes. The headphones now support lossless audio over USB-C, while retaining a 3.5mm audio jack.
Battery life has also received a boost. You can expect about 30 hours of playback time, up from the previous 24 hours. A quick charge of 15 minutes gives you 2.5 hours of use—perfect for when you’re in a hurry.
The retail price remains competitive at $449, similar to other high-end brands in the market, such as the Sony WH-1000XM6. Early reviews suggest that users love the sound quality and comfort, making it a popular choice for audiophiles.
As of now, pre-orders are available, and the headphones will officially hit the market in October. If you’re a fan of quality sound and smooth design, the QuietComfort Ultra 2 might just be what you’re looking for.
