MINERAL WELLS — The West Virginia Interstate Fair is back for its 52nd year! It kicks off this Tuesday, running until June 21 at the fairgrounds on Butcher Bend Road.
This year, the fair opens with the exciting Rafter M Rodeo. Expect thrilling events like bull riding, barrel racing, and mutton busting!
It’s not just about rodeos, though. There’s a mix of fair food, a petting zoo, games for all ages, and booths showcasing local crafts and businesses.
Tickets are just $10 for anyone age three and up. Russ Collins, the vice president of the fair board, emphasizes the value this brings to families. “Many events nearby charge separately for rides and shows. Here, $10 gives you access to everything—rodeo, rides, and entertainment,” Collins explains.
Besides the rodeo, here’s what you can look forward to:
- **Wednesday:** Kid’s Day, featuring games, horse shows, and karaoke.
- **Thursday:** Armed Forces Day, where active military get in free. Expect mud bogs and live music.
- **Friday:** More mud bogging and the popular watermelon-eating contest.
- **Saturday:** Antique tractor pulls and the grand finale with more live music.
On opening day, activities kick off at 10 a.m. with school project judging followed by various livestock learning stations. The carnival opens at 6 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 7 p.m.
This festival draws families and enthusiasts alike, reflecting West Virginia’s rich agricultural heritage while also providing entertainment for everyone. In social media, hashtags like #WVFairs2025 are trending with excited locals sharing their fair experiences.
