Experience the Excitement: Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk Makes a Splash with Fred Again.. in His First DJ Set in 16 Years!

Last night, Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk teamed up with Fred Again.. and Erol Alkan for a special DJ set at Paris’ Centre Pompidou. This event celebrated the 20th anniversary of the French record label Because Music. For Bangalter, it was his first DJ performance in 16 years.

He played some classic Daft Punk tracks like “Rollin’ & Scratchin’,” “Digital Love,” and “Contact.” He mixed these with “Galvanise” by the Chemical Brothers and part of Jonny Greenwood’s score for One Battle After Another. The crowd loved the music, and you can find some great videos from the event online.

Fred Again.. shared a touching moment on Instagram. He revealed that Bangalter first fell in love with electronic music in that very building back in 1992. Bangalter also mentioned that he hadn’t performed without his mask for 24 years, a surprising fact that left Fred Again.. speechless. He hopes Bangalter will play again soon—hopefully not in another 24 years.

Bangalter’s last live performance was in 2017 during the Grammy Awards, alongside his Daft Punk partner Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. In 2023, he released a solo album titled Mythologies, showing his talent beyond the iconic duo. Recently, Daft Punk made a return in the gaming world, collaborating with Fortnite to feature their songs and famous helmets.

This surprise performance has sparked conversations online. Fans are buzzing about the possibility of more live shows from Bangalter. As one user tweeted, “Can we please have more of this? The world needs Thomas back!”
