Experience the Future of Water Adventure: BMW x SipaBoards Unleash Electric Riding Thrills!

BMW is diving into electric water sports with its new electric stand-up paddleboard (SUP) created in partnership with Slovenia’s SipaBoards, a leader in the industry. This innovative board is self-inflating and combines electric propulsion with high-quality materials and digital features. This marks a fresh chapter for BMW as it introduces an electrically powered product for water activities, designed by BMW Group Designworks.

Stand-up paddleboarding has surged in popularity. It’s a blend of exercise, nature, and low entry costs, making it appealing for both newcomers and seasoned paddlers. The BMW x SipaBoards enhances this experience with electric assistance and intuitive controls, merging comfort with adventure.

The heart of the BMW x SipaBoards features a motor that delivers up to 300 watts of power, offering easier paddling against currents or wind. It operates quietly and emission-free, reaching speeds of up to 7.5 km/h (4 knots). Plus, the motor can inflate the board automatically, and users can choose from various battery capacities to match their adventure needs.

The design provides excellent stability and ease of use. A Bluetooth remote, inspired by BMW’s Neue Klasse, allows users to activate “FREUDE Mode” for extra power and fun light effects. A smartphone app enhances the experience by offering route planning, battery monitoring, and GPS tracking. Safety is also prioritized; if the paddle falls into the water, the motor shuts off instantly via Bluetooth, keeping everything under control.

Designed for two, the board is lightweight yet strong, measuring 3.65 m long and weighing 10.9 kg (14.9 kg with the motor). Its design mirrors the aesthetic of BMW’s Neue Klasse models. Available in three colors, the materials are durable and environmentally friendly, making it ready for various water conditions.

One standout feature is the versatile mounting system that lets users easily attach accessories like cameras and drink holders. Underbody LED lights enhance the overall experience, especially during nighttime rides. BMW will also provide a Lifestyle Accessory Capsule, featuring a camera and branded apparel, blending functionality with personal style.

The board offers two battery options. The 90 Wh modules allow for 1 to 3.5 hours of use, ideal for casual outings. From 2026, a 180 Wh option will be available for those planning longer adventures, extending usage to between three and seven hours.

The BMW x SipaBoards is now available for €3,990 at select retailers and the BMW Lifestyle online store.

As more people look for eco-friendly recreational options, this paddleboard taps into a growing trend. A recent study showed that outdoor activities are increasingly preferred by younger generations, with 69% expressing interest in water sports. Enthusiasts on social media are already sharing their excitement with hashtags like #ElectricPaddleboarding, highlighting the potential for a vibrant community around this innovative product.
