BETHLEHEM, Pa. – October has arrived, and with it comes a beloved German tradition at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

“This is our 15th annual Oktoberfest presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport,” said Jenn Loconte, ArtsQuest’s director of communication. The best part? It’s free to attend!

Get ready for a celebration filled with four beer gardens and authentic German food. Expect lively German dancing that adds to the fun atmosphere.

A long-time favorite at Oktoberfest, Heaven On A Bun has been serving attendees for all 15 years. Mike Kelly from the restaurant described it as “a wonderful event that keeps growing.” Their signature Bavarian burger features a pretzel roll layered with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, grilled onions, and German mustard—a delicious twist on a classic!

If you’re up for a challenge, consider joining the bratwurst eating contest. And don’t miss the dachshund races, a crowd favorite where any dog under 25 pounds can participate. It’s always a sight to see those little pups sprinting!

To ensure everyone enjoys their time responsibly, the Lehigh County DA’s office has set up an educational tent near the exit. Shelby Vince, Special Assistant to the Lehigh County DA, said they offer a “walk the line simulation” and breathalyzer tests to show attendees the effects of alcohol. Plus, they’re giving out Uber vouchers for rides home—$20 off for those who pass a quiz about responsible drinking.

This year’s Oktoberfest runs for two weekends, starting at noon on Saturdays and Sundays and at 5 PM on Fridays. Mark your calendars for a fun time steeped in tradition!
