Kashmir saw its first snowfall of the season today, blanketing areas like Budgam, Baramulla, and Anantnag. The snow led to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and the cancellation of some flights. However, train services in the valley continued without interruption.
The railway crew in the Jammu Division of Northern Railway worked tirelessly to clear the tracks. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the Chief Public Relations Officer, shared stunning images of the Vande Bharat train navigating the snow-covered routes.
The Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2025, connects two beautiful regions and takes only about three hours to complete its journey. This train significantly cuts travel time by up to three hours compared to previous options. It stops at Reasi and Banihal stations along the way.
In a recent survey, 75% of travelers expressed satisfaction with this service, praising its speed and comfort. The Vande Bharat train features eight coaches, offering both Chair Car and Executive Chair Car options, providing a comfortable experience for all passengers.
As Kashmir continues to embrace the winter season, the reliable train service remains a lifeline for many, ensuring smooth travel despite the snow. This adaptability in challenging weather showcases the resilience and modernization of India’s railway network.
