First Lady Melania Trump’s 2025 Christmas theme, Home Is Where The Heart Is, captures the spirit of America. It reflects how home is more than just a place; it’s about love and comfort, no matter where we are.
Inspiration for the theme comes from Melania’s experiences as a mother and businesswoman. She believes that even though life is busy, we can carry the warmth of home within us. “Let’s celebrate the love we have and share it with the world around us,” she says. This holiday season, she invites everyone to create a welcoming space filled with joy and possibilities.
Red Room Focus
To bring her vision to life, Melania chose designer Hervé Pierre. Together, they transformed the “Fostering the Future Red Room,” featuring beautiful blue butterflies. This room is dedicated to the foster-care community, a cause Melania has supported since 2021. The butterflies represent change and renewal—perfect symbols for the holiday spirit.
Pierre also created a special tour booklet, a keepsake capturing the magic of this year’s theme for visitors to treasure.
Tradition Meets Modernity
Keeping with tradition, 75 of Melania’s signature wreaths decorate the White House windows. Over 50 Christmas trees, along with 700 feet of garland and 25,000 feet of ribbon, fill the halls with festive cheer. 10,000 butterflies add a touch of whimsy to the decorations.
Honoring Gold Star Families
In the Blue Room stands the official White House Christmas Tree, an 18-foot concolor fir from Sidney, Michigan. This tree honors Gold Star Families with gold stars and ornaments, each representing the state birds and flowers, paying tribute to the sacrifices of military personnel and their families.
250th Anniversary Tribute
Celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary are showcased in the East Room with patriotic colors. In the Green Room, two presidential portraits made from over 6,000 puzzle pieces offer families a chance to engage and have fun together.
A Gingerbread Marvel
The 2025 Gingerbread House, an impressive creation weighing over 120 pounds, is displayed in the State Dining Room, portraying the South Portico and a glimpse of the Yellow Oval Room. The Grand Foyer also features a partial display of the historic White House Crèche, currently being restored by curators. As visitors explore the decorated White House, they are reminded that the true strength of our nation lies in its people and shared values. Home really is where the heart is.
Each of these decorations not only beautifies the White House but also tells a story—a story of love, resilience, and community spirit during the holiday season.
