South Florida is buzzing with festivals and charity events this season, thanks to its lovely weather.
A big highlight was The Way Forward Foundation’s annual Lobster Feast at Coral Reef Yacht Club on February 23. This special gathering has raised over $1 million for programs helping those with paralysis. They provide free adaptive yoga classes, scholarships, and even support for para-athletes.
Woody Beckham and his family welcomed guests with genuine warmth, attracting numerous supporters eager to contribute to a great cause. Familiar faces from the community, including local Rotarians, added to the vibrant atmosphere.
In another delicious event, Chef Chris Valdes hosted the fifth annual EATZ at the newly renovated Loews Miami Beach Hotel. This invitation-only culinary extravaganza kicked off the famous Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. Guests indulged in mouth-watering dishes from Chef Valdes and other local chefs, all while celebrating Miami’s rich culinary scene.
Meanwhile, at The Biltmore Hotel, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its 15th annual Heart Disease Awareness Lunch Conference. Expert physicians shared crucial insights on heart health, and a lively fashion show featuring local designers stole the spotlight. Ximma, an incubator showcasing over 30 designers, participated, and even this writer had the joy of modeling one of their stunning creations.
The Villagers Garden Tour attracted hundreds on March 7 for its annual fundraiser, celebrating beautiful garden landscapes and community spirit. Lots of smiles were exchanged, reminding everyone of the close-knit community’s value.
This month also marked some significant birthdays. Dr. Hal Wanless and Cristina Lama Evensky celebrated in style, with Cristina’s 50th birthday party being an extravagant affair.
