Experience the Magic: Ohio Wesleyan’s Upcoming Musical Theater Performances for the Community

Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) is gearing up for an exciting year in the performing arts. The university has announced its 2025-2026 schedule, featuring more than 20 events. Students and the community can look forward to a rich mix of music, theater, and dance performances, many of which are free.

Richard Edwards, the chair of OWU’s performing arts department, emphasized the top-notch quality of these performances. “People can expect professional-level acts from our student musicians and performers,” he said. This isn’t just about the college experience; it’s about showcasing real talent.

The arts calendar is packed with various events, including faculty recitals and ensemble performances. Edwards noted that the variety of styles and genres has expanded over the years. “If you’re into bands, we’ve got everything from jazz to concert and marching bands,” he said.

OwU’s performing arts program has gained momentum. Enrollment in its musical theater program has tripled, and new groups, such as a ukulele ensemble, are popping up all the time. This growing interest is reflected in high attendance at festivals and concerts.

• Nov. 14-15: Ohio Wesleyan Orchesis 25/26 dance concert—$10 for general admission.
• April 10-18: Spring musical “Into the Woods”—tickets also at $10 for general admission.

The excitement around these events is palpable, and community engagement continues to rise, with many performers sharing their experiences on social media. In a recent poll by ArtsOhio, 75% of respondents expressed a strong interest in attending local arts events, a testament to the vibrant arts scene in the region.
