Ranchi recently witnessed a breathtaking air show by the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). The skies over Namkum Army Ground lit up with vibrant colors of saffron, white, and green, leaving thousands in awe.
On the show’s first day, only six out of the nine fighter planes could take part due to damage from a hailstorm. Thankfully, all nine planes soared on the final day, delighting the audience with their stunning maneuvers.
Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, addressed the crowd, highlighting the spirit of a ‘new India’ under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "This new India doesn’t fear its enemies," he said, underscoring the importance of standing tall.
The event wasn’t just about thrilling displays; it aimed to inspire the next generation to reach for the skies. Seth announced that the Surya Kiran Team’s next destination would be Patna, Bihar, on April 22 and 23.
SKAT, formed in 1996, has become a symbol of Indian aviation excellence. With over 700 shows under its belt, including performances in countries like Thailand and Singapore, the team promotes national pride and inspires youth.
Such performances have shown to boost interest in aviation careers among young people. Recent surveys indicate a growing fascination with military aviation, with more students expressing interest in pursuing related fields. This enthusiasm is essential for nurturing future aviators and engineers, crucial for India’s defense landscape.
The dazzling display in Ranchi reflects not only aerial talent but also a commitment to engage and educate youth about the aviation industry.
