Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: A New Era in Indian Rail Travel

The Indian Railways is set to elevate overnight travel with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, shared this exciting news during a recent meeting in New Delhi.

After successful trials and certification, the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January. This is a huge step for Indian Railways and its passengers, aiming for significant improvements in 2026 through various initiatives.

The train will boast 16 air-conditioned coaches, with accommodations for about 823 passengers. This includes AC 3-tier, AC 2-tier, and First Class coaches. Safety is a priority, with CCTV in all coaches, automatic doors, and an emergency communication system for passengers to reach the train manager easily.

Expert in transportation, Dr. Ramesh Sharma, states that innovations like these are crucial for the future of Indian Railways. “Enhancing passenger comfort and connectivity can significantly boost the economy and tourism,” he says.

Currently, the Indian Railways operates semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains capable of reaching speeds up to 180 km/h. The Vande Bharat Sleeper aims to combine the luxury of the Rajdhani Express with modern technology, promising to transform overnight rail journeys.
