Aviation enthusiast Sam Chui recently celebrated a wedding like no other. Sam, known for his passion for planes, tied the knot with Fiona, an equally aviation-loving partner. On July 12, 2025, they took their love for flying to new heights by hosting their wedding party aboard a Boeing 747-400.
The couple chartered the plane, which is based in Fujairah, UAE. After a ground celebration, they took a scenic 95-minute flight over the Gulf of Oman. The Boeing 747 departed at 6:30 PM and returned to Fujairah by 8:04 PM.
Sam shared highlights of this unique event on Instagram, calling it a “Sky Wedding” and his “best day ever.” It’s a grand example of how personal interests can shape unforgettable experiences.
Interestingly, despite the extravagant setting, chartering a Boeing 747 might not be as costly as one might think. According to a recent survey by WeddingWire, couples spend an average of $30,000 on weddings in the U.S. alone. Depending on the charter’s specifics, a luxury setting like this could potentially fall within that budget, especially when considering the venues many couples choose.
The Boeing 747 used for the event, registered as ER-BOS, is a 24-year-old jet with a rich history. Originally flying for Singapore Airlines, it has since served other airlines. Currently, it operates for Terra Avia, primarily handling charter flights for Hajj pilgrims. This plane is outfitted with 476 seats, including 26 in business class.
Sam has a history of sharing insights about aviation. In fact, about a year ago, he published a video discussing another 747 operated by Terra Avia, highlighting its unique role in air travel.
