Minerva is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming Nights on North Market event on Friday, October 10. This lively celebration in downtown promises a mix of live music, art, food, and shopping, perfect for friends and families alike.

From 5 to 9 p.m., head to the Market Street Art Spot to enjoy a reception featuring Anne Richeson Scanlon’s artwork, along with tunes from One String Short and some light snacks.

If you’re in the mood for more music, check out Grandma’s Favorite Grandson, who will be performing alternative rock and punk from 6 to 9 p.m. in a pop-up pocket park right on West High Street. There will be a bounce house, games, and local vendors, making it a fun spot for everyone.

Shops in the area, like Art on 30 Gallery & Gift Shop and Chic Haven Boutique, will stay open until 8 p.m., offering a chance to browse unique gifts and crafts. Restaurants like Walker’s Cafe and The Clever Cookie & Creamery are also extending their hours, ensuring there’s plenty to eat.

The Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) will be active from 4 to 10 p.m., allowing visitors to purchase drinks from local spots like Sandy Springs Brewing Company and carry them around downtown. This adds to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

This community gathering showcases how local events can bring life and engagement to small towns. Similar events across the country highlight the growing trend of supporting local businesses and artists, especially after the hardships many faced during the pandemic. According to a recent National Small Business Association survey, 70% of consumers are more likely to shop local than before, illustrating a shift in shopping habits that benefits communities.
