On Saturday, the Korean American Association of Clarksville celebrated the Lunar New Year at the Morgan University Center at Austin Peay State University. The event drew a large crowd, with many attendees enjoying delicious food and lively performances.
This year, the celebration welcomed the arrival of the Blue Snake, a symbol of wisdom and adaptability in the Chinese zodiac.
Col. Dennis (Bo) Kirby represented Congressman Mark Green at the event and praised the association’s contributions to the Clarksville community. “Your impact embodies the best aspects of our nation and state,” he said. “I look forward to deepening our relationship in the coming year.”
Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden also recognized the association’s efforts. “Your hard work brings us all together. Thank you for enriching our community. May this Lunar New Year bring joy and unity,” he stated.
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts touched on the importance of diversity. “In Clarksville, diversity is cherished. Together, we are stronger. We will not be broken as a city because of our unity,” he emphasized.
Kon Kenney, president of the Korean American Association, expressed gratitude to everyone who helped make the event a success. The evening highlighted the vibrant culture of the Korean community and fostered deeper connections among attendees.
