The San Diego Serbian Festival is returning for its 52nd year on October 11 at the Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church. This lively event promises a rich experience of Serbian culture, featuring food, music, and dance.

Families will enjoy vibrant performances by traditional folk dancers dressed in colorful attire. The Kolo dances, which are a joyful circle dance, will be a highlight. Live music from tamburitza and Balkan bands will create an inviting atmosphere. As the day turns to night, everyone is invited to dance under the stars.

Food lovers can look forward to a variety of Serbian delicacies. Think roasted lamb, spit-roasted pig, grilled sausages, stuffed cabbage rolls, and savory meat pies. For dessert, there will be homemade pastries like krempita, baklava, and walnut strudel. Be sure to try the traditional plum brandy, šljivovica, along with Serbian beer and wine.

The festival will also include cultural exhibits showcasing traditional clothing, jewelry, and crafts from the Balkans. Kids will have a play area with games and face painting, ensuring fun for the whole family.

One of the gems of this event is a tour of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. The church boasts over 50,000 square feet of stunning hand-set mosaics in a Byzantine style, depicting biblical stories and saints. These incredible mosaics took decades to complete and are a must-see.

The festival runs from noon to 11 p.m. Attendees arriving between noon and 4 p.m. will receive a complimentary dessert while supplies last. Tickets are $5 online or at the door, while children under 12, active-duty military members, and first responders can enter for free.
