The Kern County Fair is set to welcome about 400,000 visitors over its exciting 12-day run. Chelsea Roberts, the fair’s marketing specialist, has shared some fun updates for this year.
There will be new rodeo events at the grandstand. “We’re adding three nights of PRCA rodeo, plus a new 3 p.m. showtime for our Fiesta del Charro Rodeo,” Roberts mentioned. This means more chances to enjoy thrilling performances.
The beloved sea lion show will return as well, and Roberts calls it “the cutest show you’ll ever see.”
Besides the entertainment, the fair will showcase over 7,000 entries in various competitions, highlighting local talent and creativity.
Cost-savers will appreciate the discounted admission, parking, and carnival wristbands available at local Sully’s locations. Special promotions include free admission for those donating a pint of blood at Houchin Blood Bank, and a free entry on September 23rd with six canned food items.
This year’s food selection includes a unique treat—Dubai chocolate-covered strawberries—and a budget-friendly “tub of fun” meal, perfect for families.
Safety is a top concern at the fair. The Bakersfield Police Department will help ensure a secure environment. “They really do a great job monitoring the fairgrounds,” Roberts noted. To keep everyone safe, they have magnetometers at all entrances, so there’s a reminder: leave weapons and illegal items at home.
