On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, I ventured to Coralville to shoot some promotional videos with the Iowa River Landing. I was technically there for work, but it turned into a delightful day filled with food and fun!
With the quick filming schedule, I couldn’t try everything, but what I did taste was fantastic. Here’s a glimpse of my adventure:
Stop 1: Tribute Eatery & Bar
Our first stop was the outdoor patio at Tribute Eatery & Bar. Despite the heat, the giant umbrellas kept us cool. The menu features delicious paninis and salads. I sampled the Burrata Chicken Parm Panini and a delightful mac & cheese. The best part? They offer $0.99 martinis during lunch! Yes, you heard that right. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can enjoy two martinis for less than a buck each. The Cosmopolitan I tried was dangerously tasty!
Stop 2: 30hop
Next, we hopped across the street to 30hop. Known for its stunning rooftop patio, you can now order dinner up there. I didn’t eat much during this stop, but I’ve dined at the Cedar Rapids location and can vouch for its quality. Their Ahi Poke Bowl is a summer favorite, and I couldn’t resist trying their flavored mule cocktails.
Stop 3: Iowa Athletic Club
Our third stop was at the Iowa Athletic Club, right next to the Xtream Arena. They served nachos—my absolute favorite! Though I didn’t get to taste their tavern-style pizza, I’m looking forward to returning for their Detroit-style pizza soon.
Stop 4: Marquee Pizzeria
At Marquee Pizzeria, we dove into a couple of their famous specialty pizzas. The Birria Pizza was a highlight, topped with flavorful garlic cream and braised beef. It’s meant to be enjoyed with consommé, which made it even better! We also tried the spicy Vice City pizza, and combined it with refreshing cocktails that were hard to leave behind.
Stop 5: Scratch Cupcakery
No visit is complete without dessert! At Scratch Cupcakery, I enjoyed the Strawberries & Cream and Hot Fudge Sundae cupcakes. With over 200 flavors available, their creations are not just tasty, but beautiful works of art.
Stop 6: Watermill Kitchen + Bar
We wrapped up our tour with some drinks at Watermill Kitchen + Bar inside the Hyatt Regency. Often overlooked, this spot has a beautiful setup and impressive cocktails. The Maplewood Sour was a pleasant surprise, and the Coral Cosmo came with a fun “Flavor Blaster Bubble.” It was quite the show!
Overall, I had a wonderful time exploring local businesses at the Iowa River Landing. There’s so much to see and enjoy, from food to drinks and shopping. It’s a hidden gem worth discovering! Check out the full list of businesses in Coralville’s Iowa River Landing HERE.
