Tesla’s New Update: Version 2025.38
Tesla has released its latest update, version 2025.38, though only a small number of users have received it. This update may not be massive, but it introduces some exciting features.
3D Buildings
One of the key updates is the introduction of 3D buildings in the map view. When enabled, you can see structures in three dimensions, making the maps feel more alive and useful. This feature has been available in other vehicles, like Rivian, and can enhance navigation by clearly showing where to turn in relation to nearby landmarks.
To activate 3D buildings, simply toggle the option on the side of the screen in Model 3 and Y. The 3D buildings appear as you zoom in, but they’ll disappear if you zoom out or switch to satellite view.
Enhanced Maps
The maps have also improved. While you could always rotate/view maps before, you can now tilt them as well. This lets users adjust their view for a better perspective.
Tesla is getting closer to merging its map data with the visualizations in the vehicle, which could mean a more integrated user experience in the future.
Why the Excitement?
Experts believe that Tesla’s advancements in navigation technology are shaping the future of driving. According to a recent survey by J.D. Power, 84% of drivers appreciate enhanced navigation features, reflecting a growing demand for smarter driving assistance.
Future Possibilities
As 3D buildings become part of Tesla’s mapping tools, we expect future updates to blur the lines between map data and real-time vehicle visuals even further. For instance, Tesla is working on integrating 3D terrain into its visualization system. Imagine if roads had elevation changes and buildings appeared accurately based on your vehicle’s location—it’s an exciting prospect.
Global Reach
The global rollout of this feature utilizes the Google API, except in China, where Tesla partners with a different provider. This shows Tesla’s commitment to providing a uniform experience for drivers across various markets.
Availability
The new 3D building feature is currently available for Model 3 and Model Y equipped with the AMD Ryzen infotainment system. It’s expected to roll out to newer models like the Cybertruck and Model S and X soon. However, users will need Premium Connectivity to access this feature.
Stay tuned as Tesla continues to innovate and enhance the driving experience.
