Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has rolled out an exciting new train service called the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train, designed to showcase the beauty of India’s Northeast region. This initiative aligns with the Indian government’s goals to boost domestic tourism through projects like “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” and “Dekho Apna Desh.”

This special train will begin its journey on April 22, 2025, from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station, carrying 156 passengers. Travel options include AC I, II, and III classes, with boarding available at multiple locations, including Ghaziabad, Kanpur, and Lucknow.
This 15-day tour will explore five of the ‘Seven Sisters’—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya. Key destinations include Guwahati, Kaziranga, Itanagar, and Kohima, offering a rich blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences.
Pricing for the journey varies by class, starting at Rs 1,67,845 for AC I (Coupe) and lowering to Rs 1,16,905 for AC III. The package includes not just the train ride but also accommodations in AC hotels, meals (vegetarian only), transportation, travel insurance, and guided tours.
The train itself boasts modern amenities, such as two fine-dining restaurants, shower facilities, and even a mini library. Passengers can expect a comfortable and luxurious travel experience while exploring vibrant cultures and landscapes.
Expert travelers often emphasize the importance of experiencing diverse regions through authentic local experiences. According to a recent survey by the Ministry of Tourism, there has been an 18% increase in domestic travel in recent years, highlighting a growing interest in exploring the country’s hidden gems.
As more people look to travel within India, the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is a timely addition to the tourism landscape, offering an easy and engaging way to discover the Northeast. This train not only makes travel more convenient but also encourages a deeper appreciation of India’s diverse heritage.
