This week, we’re excited to support two public school projects that aim to improve education in underserved communities.
The Inoculation Project is a volunteer effort to fund science, math, and literacy initiatives for schools in low-income areas. We partner with DonorsChoose, a non-profit that helps teachers get the materials they need through tax-deductible donations.
Project Highlights
Project #1: The Science Behind Climate Change and Our Environment
- Location: Olivia Park Elementary School, Everett, Washington
- Goal: $350.58 (with matching funds this week!)
- Needs: Award-winning books focusing on climate science to enrich the library.
Mrs. Riviera, the school librarian, emphasizes the importance of teaching about climate change. She says, “These books empower students to understand our planet’s challenges and develop future leadership skills.” Learning about our environment is not just informative—it’s essential for fostering responsible citizens.
Project #2: Rural High School Biology and Chemistry Lab Needs Supplies
- Location: Gore High School, Gore, Oklahoma
- Goal: $890.87 (also with matching funds)
- Needs: A range of basic lab supplies, including flasks, scales, and goggles.
Mr. Wooten teaches in a small rural town and aims to update his labs. “Having these supplies will allow my students to conduct hands-on experiments safely,” he explains. Experiential learning is crucial in science education and can significantly impact student engagement.
The Importance of Funding Education
Many schools, especially those in low-income areas, struggle to provide necessary resources. According to recent data from the National Center for Education Statistics, nearly 50% of public schools serve students from low-income households. This disparity can hinder a student’s educational experience and limit future opportunities.
Moreover, projects like these not only provide tools but also ignite passion for learning in students. They help create environments where kids can explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) effectively.
In addition, the unique nature of each project fosters community involvement. Many teachers receive immediate feedback and support through DonorsChoose, helping to create a stronger network of educators and students.
How You Can Help
Even small donations can make a big difference. By contributing, you help open doors to new knowledge and opportunities for students who need it the most.

We’re proud to back these important projects and hope to see them reach their goals!
