Explore the New Vande Bharat: Connecting India’s Largest State to its Stunning Coastal Regions

Rail travel between Gujarat and Rajasthan is on the rise with a new Vande Bharat Express set to run between Asarwa and Udaipur City. This launch marks Gujarat’s sixth service in the expanding semi-high-speed rail network, making travel faster and more comfortable.

The route connecting Ahmedabad’s Asarwa station to Udaipur is significant for traders, students, and tourists. This new train service aims to speed up travel times, enhancing convenience for everyone using this popular route.

Officials believe the new train will strengthen ties between northern Gujarat and southern Rajasthan. It will benefit daily commuters and boost tourism in Udaipur, a city known for its rich history and scenic beauty. According to recent statistics, tourism in Udaipur has grown by over 10% this past year, highlighting the importance of improved transport options.

Indian Railways is dedicated to upgrading its services, with recent efforts including station renovations and new lines. The Asarwa–Udaipur Vande Bharat service fits perfectly into this modernization plan. An expert from Indian Railways stated, “Our goal is to make rail travel more appealing, especially when competing with road transport.”

The new eight-coach train features comfortable AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car options. Amenities include reclining seats, mobile charging points, bio-toilets, and enhanced safety measures like CCTV and automatic doors. Customers can expect a seamless and secure travel experience.

The inaugural run is scheduled for February 16, 2026, departing Udaipur City at 12:25 PM and arriving at Asarwa at 5:15 PM, with stops at Zawar, Dungarpur, and Himmatnagar stations. After the special service, regular operations will begin on February 18, running six days a week (excluding Tuesdays).

Booking for the regular service will open on February 15 through the Passenger Reservation System and the IRCTC website. Passengers can check schedules and coach details via the official enquiry portal.

This new addition reflects Gujarat’s commitment to upgrading its rail network, bringing faster, more efficient services to western India. Enhanced connectivity through services like these is essential for economic growth, as well as for meeting the increasing demand for reliable travel options.
