Indian Railways is gearing up to enhance travel in Karnataka with a new railway line. The upcoming Vande Bharat Express will connect Bengaluru to Shivamogga, offering a speedy transport option for business travelers, students, and tourists. This route is expected to be the twelfth Vande Bharat line and is already stirring excitement among locals.
MP PC Mohan announced the news on social media, sparking interest, although the start date is still not clear. Located about 300 kilometers from Bengaluru, Shivamogga recently opened an airport, making the city even more attractive for visitors and residents alike.
Once the new line opens, passengers will enjoy Vande Bharat service connections to major cities like Mysuru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, creating a robust network across Karnataka. This shift reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to modernize transport and enhance travel comfort in the region.
In addition to the Bengaluru-Shivamogga line, the Bengaluru-Mangaluru high-speed rail line is also in progress. According to Railway Minister V. Somanna, 22 kilometers have been electrified, with work continuing on the remaining 33 kilometers. This route will serve districts like Tumakuru, Hassan, and Mangaluru, promising faster travel times and potentially boosting local businesses and daily commutes.
These improvements are part of a broader strategy by the Indian government to modernize rail infrastructure across the country. A report from the Indian Ministry of Railways shows that more than 2,500 kilometers of new railway tracks have been planned for electrification, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. With this focus on development, Karnataka is set to benefit significantly, enhancing both economic growth and quality of life for its residents.
Overall, these new railway lines not only represent faster travel but also a commitment to making Karnataka more accessible and connected.
