Joseph Smith is the lead wildlife biologist at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. With 15 years of experience in coastal research and conservation in South Jersey, he brings valuable insights into our environment.

Every weekend, Science Saturday sessions explore scientific studies and environmental issues that impact our coastal communities, particularly around Barnegat Bay. This series has been running for over 15 years, featuring local experts who share information on topics ranging from biodiversity to human impacts on the ecosystem. The aim is to inspire community members to engage with environmental topics and take action.

All online sessions for the 2025 Science Saturday series are free. Each session, whether online or in person, is limited to 95 attendees. Interested participants can register at lbifoundation.org/science or through the Foundation’s Friday email updates.
