Exploring Climate Action and Biodiversity: Kirti Vardhan Singh’s Key Insights from Meeting with UAE Environment Minister

India and the UAE are teaming up to tackle environmental challenges together. During the recent talks in Abu Dhabi, the Indian Minister emphasized the importance of their partnership in shaping a sustainable future.

At the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025, Singh highlighted India’s ongoing commitment to fight climate change and protect biodiversity. He praised the UAE’s climate initiative, the Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC), co-led with Indonesia. This collaboration is a shining example of how countries can work together to enhance climate resilience.

Singh expressed gratitude for the UAE’s support in initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and the Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Industry Coalition. He invited the UAE to participate in further global efforts, such as the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and the Leadership Group for Industry Transition. He also introduced ‘Mission LiFE,’ a program promoting eco-friendly lifestyles, which sparked interest from the UAE Minister.

In recent years, global cooperation on environmental issues has seen a significant uptick. According to a survey by the Pew Research Center, 70% of people around the world view climate change as a major threat. This underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts like those from India and the UAE.

The relationship between these nations is not new. Historically, the UAE has been a vital partner for India, especially in forums like BRICS. With both countries recognizing their roles on the global stage, such partnerships are essential for tackling pressing issues.

This collaboration promises to fuse India’s ambitious sustainability goals with the UAE’s innovative approach, potentially setting new benchmarks in environmental cooperation. As the world faces increasingly severe climate challenges, every partnership counts in the quest for a sustainable, resilient future.
