Florida’s Craft Beer Boom and Super Bowl Food Safety Tips

Florida’s craft beer scene is booming! In just ten years, the number of breweries has skyrocketed from 66 to 396. This growth highlights how much Floridians love their craft brews.

A recent study by UF/IFAS sheds light on this trend. They surveyed 582 adults from Florida, and an impressive 72% said they buy craft beer regularly. This shows that craft beer isn’t just for a select few; it appeals to a wide range of people.

As the Super Bowl approaches, many will host watch parties filled with tasty snacks. However, it’s vital to keep food safety in mind. The USDA warns that food left out at room temperature for over two hours can lead to bacteria growth and foodborne illnesses.

Popular game day foods like pizza, chicken wings, and chili should be kept warm or refrigerated until ready to serve. If you’re ordering takeout, make sure to serve it promptly to keep everyone safe and healthy.

In other news, California has reported its first case of the H5N9 bird flu on a duck farm. This strain was detected alongside the more common H5N1 strain. An outbreak in Georgia’s poultry farms may also lead to trade restrictions from various countries, which puts additional pressure on egg prices due to reduced supply.
