Dr. Susan Brown during a presentation.

Join distinguished professor Susan L. Brown on February 18 from 6-7 p.m. at Juniper Brewing, Bowling Green, for a talk on the increasing divorce rates among older adults. This event is free, but registration is recommended. Register here.
Dr. Brown leads the Center for Family and Demographic Research and co-directs the National Center for Family & Marriage Research. Her work focuses on how modern family structures are evolving, especially regarding marriage, cohabitation, and divorce.
While divorce rates in the U.S. have dropped since peaking in 1979, the rates for people over 50 have more than doubled. This trend highlights a shift known as “gray divorce.”
In her presentation, Dr. Brown will explore the rise of gray divorce, its causes, and what it means for families today. She will also discuss potential future trends in divorce rates among older adults.
The talk will be about 30 minutes long, followed by a Q&A session. This event is part of a series showcasing BGSU researchers and their work that influences our lives locally and globally.
