Death Echoes Overlapping
In a galaxy far away, the Tau Andromeda system once thrived, celebrating life and death. On its necropolis station, caretakers honored the deceased. They followed customs carefully, understanding that each life was precious.
The Tau Andromeda civilization spread across five planets, each day welcoming many souls into its fold. As they transitioned from life, their essence—called death echoes—was gathered and transformed into energy to sustain their world. For the people here, dying was not an end; it was a cherished farewell that fueled future warmth and abundance.
But time is relentless. Civilizations crumble. A rise in religious beliefs deemed the death echo practice outdated and heretical, leading to its decline. Over centuries, the once-vibrant system faced wars, sickness, and eventual desolation. The planets grew quiet, overrun by nature reclaiming its space.
Fast forward millions of years. Three distant planets, unaware of each other’s existence, faced their own cataclysms—each severing their lifelines in an instant. All still emitting death echoes, they rippled through the vastness of space, intertwining in a cosmic tapestry of loss.
On Earth in 2237, amid monsoon rains, Esther watched over the Singapore Floating Archipelago. Her job felt pointless in a world where dangers like piracy and crime had vanished. Instead, what remained were haunting acknowledgments of existence—people resigned to quiet lives, unaware of a brighter future.
Struggling with her own reality, Esther grappled with a recent breakup. Wei Jie, her former partner, epitomized the blind hopefulness she now found suffocating. As wars erupted in other regions, their corner of the world faded into the background, often ignored and forgotten.
In stark contrast, on the planet Autura, a collective of trillions became the Farmer, thriving through unity and purpose, oblivious to the impending dangers. The Farmer sowed and cultivated, existing in simplicity and fulfilment, unaware of the larger destiny looming beyond their control.
Meanwhile, the Wisps of Lalesh, a breathtaking presence in roaring winds, danced in unison. They penned verses and mused on their existence, reflecting their vibrant life, apart yet together—a stark contrast to Esther’s solitude.
Yet the resonance of the three planets’ death echoes reached the inhabitants of Earth, Autura, and Lalesh, igniting subconscious dreams. Visions of a life unknown played in their minds, blurring lines between reality and desire for deeper connections.
Esther awoke from her dream, finding herself drawn to Wei Jie’s unexpected presence. Their emotional exchange broke through her walls, revealing a flicker of hope amidst despair. Meanwhile, on Autura and Lalesh, entities faced cataclysm—their existences once vibrant, now threatened.
Finally, as catastrophic events unfolded—a gamma-ray burst swallowed Lalesh whole, while nanobacteria ravaged Autura—the death echoes surged forth one last time. They met cosmic waves, awakening the long-silent necropolis. For a fleeting moment, it pulsated with life.
Then, with a sigh, all returned to stillness, leaving behind only echoes of what once was.
