Explosive Offense Powers Panthers to Victory: A Thrilling Win for High Point University Athletics

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University Panthers faced off against Queens University of Charlotte on Tuesday evening at Vert Stadium in a non-conference game. The Panthers started strong and secured an impressive 18-7 victory, marking their biggest win of the season so far.

Head Coach John Crawley expressed his pride in the team’s performance, saying, “Going into the game, we were prepared for a tough match against Queens. While we had a slow start, our players got organized and played well together. Luca Accardo excelled at the faceoff, and our attack unit of Justin Wixted, Owen Bunten, and Carson Robins found their rhythm. Our defense, led by John Adams and Zack Brenfleck, was solid, and I was pleased to see contributions from everyone.”

The game began with High Point falling behind 2-0 in just four minutes. However, the Panthers quickly turned the tide. Accardo won his second faceoff and raced down the field to score the first goal for High Point just six seconds after the whistle. The team found its footing, with Ryan Hynes and Collin Rovere adding goals shortly after, pushing the lead to 3-2. After a brief scoring pause, Wixted and Robins scored twice more, ending the first quarter 5-3 in favor of High Point.

In the second quarter, the Panthers continued to dominate, outscoring the Royals 6-1. The defense allowed only four shots from Queens, making it hard for them to find the back of the net. Among the highlights, Robby Lang scored his first career goal by recovering a rebound from Ian Cann‘s shot.

High Point’s success continued into the third quarter, where again they outscored Queens 6-1. Carson Robins netted his third goal, achieving his first career hat trick, thanks to a pass from Josh Weitzman. Matt Lutzel also added two goals before the end of the quarter, and Tommy Meehan scored with a clever spin move. As the final quarter began, the score was firmly in High Point’s favor at 17-5.

The Panthers wrapped up the game with a final goal from freshman Hunt Sands, marking his first collegiate goal. With the score at 18-7, High Point celebrated their largest win of the season.

Next up, the Panthers will head to Georgetown for a matchup against the No. 12 ranked team on Saturday, March 15 at noon.
