The Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County (MHA) has exciting news! They’ve extended their hours at the North County recovery center located at Grace Lutheran Church in Dunkirk. The center is now open from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Grant Manager Michelle Colaiacovo offers Narcan training every Thursday, available for individuals and large groups if planned ahead. The MHA is also looking for a part-time bilingual peer (Spanish and English) to join the Dunkirk center. Check out their website for job details.

This extension is significant given the rising mental health concerns in our communities. According to a recent report from the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly one in five adults in the U.S. experiences mental illness each year. Local resources like these centers play a crucial role in supporting individuals in need.

In recent discussions on social media, many have expressed gratitude for the extended hours. People are sharing their personal stories about finding help through the MHA, showcasing the positive impact these services have on lives.

For resources on mental health and recovery, the MHA’s efforts are invaluable. Accessing help is a key step, and local organizations are essential in this journey.
