Rookie James Pearce Jr. played a standout role, finishing the season with 10.5 sacks—two of which happened in the final game. This achievement is remarkable; it’s the highest sack total for a rookie since Micah Parsons, who secured 13 sacks in 2021. Pearce is also close to the franchise record of 11.5 sacks held by Claude Humphrey, established in 1968.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich had hoped for a strong pass rush “by committee.” That vision became a reality, as multiple players, including Walker and Kaden Elliss, each racked up over 3.5 sacks.
The Falcons’ turnaround is striking. In 2024, they ranked near the bottom with just 31 sacks. This year’s jump to 57 sacks marks one of the most significant improvements in the league.
This new standard for the Falcons’ pass rush is one the young players are excited to uphold. Pearce captured the spirit of teamwork perfectly, saying, “The vets leaned on the rookies, and we leaned back. It was a great mix, like squeezing a lemon for good lemonade.”
