Fall Tennis Wrap-Up: Highlights and Insights from Southeast Missouri State University Athletics

The Southeast Missouri tennis team recently wrapped up its fall season at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Redhawks sent Maja Bajorek, Saskia Soome, and Yontha Tadoum to face some of the best players in the region.

Bajorek and Soome competed in the qualifying singles. Bajorek fought hard but lost a close three-set match to Evelyn Risner from Miami (Ohio). Soome had a bit of success, winning her first match against Chase Boyer from Indiana with scores of 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. However, she was eliminated in the second round by Addison Iacono.

In the main singles draw, both Tadoum and Soome were knocked out in their first matches.

On a brighter note, in the doubles competition, Soome and Tadoum won their first match against a team from Eastern Kentucky, finishing 8-3. However, they fell in the second round to a stronger duo from Louisville, losing 8-2.

Bajorek found success in the consolation bracket, taking her match against Ellie Brotherton from Xavier with a score of 6-2, 6-4.

Looking ahead, the Redhawks will be back in action for their main season starting January 17th. They will travel to face the University of Tulsa and Louisiana Tech.
