Chef Edgar “Pato” Delfin has announced the closing of his beloved restaurant, Lick it Up. This vegetarian spot, known for its unique plant-based Mexican street food, will serve its last meals on Monday, March 31.
Delfin began his culinary journey with a food truck in 2017 and has since gained recognition, appearing twice on television. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he reflected on the fun and challenges of the past six years at Lick it Up, located at 114 E. Mills Ave. in Downtown El Paso. He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him, from food truck fans to his loyal staff.
The restaurant gained fame when it was featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” where Fieri sampled Delfin’s delicious dishes. In addition to this, Delfin participated in “Guy’s Grocery Games,” where he showcased his culinary talents. His history also includes exciting ventures in Austin, where he had multiple food trucks and even a brick-and-mortar location on East 6th Street.
“In Austin, we had a whirlwind of experiences, from festivals to private events with celebrities,” Delfin shared. “We always focused on creating great vegan food.”
As he closes this chapter, Delfin is eager to begin new projects and has promised more updates soon. He hinted that something exciting is on the horizon for fans of his cuisine.
For those wanting to visit Lick it Up before it closes, here are the final hours:
- Monday-Wednesday: 5 to 10 p.m.
- Thursday: 5 to 11 p.m.
- Friday-Saturday: 2-11 p.m.
- Sunday: 2-10 p.m.
In other news, the Far East Ojos Locos Sports Cantina at 1921 N. Zaragoza Road has announced its closure. This leaves just one location still in operation at 1204 Airway Blvd. No additional details were provided about this closing.
