Fathom Entertainment, formerly known as Fathom Events, has appointed Eric Becker as its new head of communications. Becker brings a wealth of experience from his time at Starz, where he spent 18 years as a key figure in press relations.
In his new role, Becker will oversee all external communications for Fathom, including media relations and programming campaigns. He replaces Colette Carey, who left the company last year. Becker will report to VP of marketing Shannah Miller.
Before joining Fathom, Becker served as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Starz until 2017, following its acquisition by Lionsgate. He then founded his own PR firm, Becker PR, and worked as an SVP at ICR, focusing on media, entertainment, and technology clients.
Fathom Entertainment, based in Denver, is co-owned by major exhibitors like AMC, Cinemark, and Regal/Cineworld. The company specializes in distributing live and pre-recorded content to theaters worldwide. Initially known for bringing the Metropolitan Opera to the big screen, Fathom has since expanded to offer various events and films. They operate in 45 countries and have a live digital broadcast network with over 1,100 locations.
With these changes, Fathom aims to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving entertainment landscape, a sentiment echoed by CEO Ray Nutt concerning Becker’s addition to the team.
