Community-Focused Program Tackles Hunger One Delivery at a Time

Food Fellowship Ministry, based in Wayne County, is a community-driven initiative. Volunteers work together to deliver food to over 900 families each month, making a real difference in the fight against hunger.

If you or someone you know is in need of food, this program could help. Started by a local family, Food Fellowship Ministry serves more than 2,300 people monthly. They partner with regional food banks like the Akron-Canton Food Bank and the Harvest Call Distribution Center. This partnership allows them to gather food and also purchase additional supplies through donations.

Deliveries happen on the third Saturday of each month. Volunteers prepare food boxes on Friday afternoons, assembling over 825 boxes in a Wooster-area warehouse. On Saturday, they fill these boxes and deliver them right to people’s doorsteps across Wayne County.

This program relies on the kindness of volunteers. In a recent survey, about 72% of participants said that receiving food deliveries eased their stress during tough times. Many volunteers contribute just three to four hours a month, helping in various roles—whether assembling boxes, filling them, or making deliveries.
