Syracuse University’s field hockey team is making waves this season. After two weeks, they’ve jumped back into the top five of the NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. They are now ranked fifth, a notable rise from their previous position.
Syracuse started the season strong, boasting a 4-0 record. They secured impressive victories against Rutgers and Ohio State, both ranked in the top 20. This performance earned them a significant boost, marking their return to the top five for the first time since September 2017.
Currently, Northwestern leads the rankings, having gathered 218 points and nine of the 11 first-place votes. North Carolina follows closely behind with 211 points, and Virginia is in third place with 195 points. Boston College rounds out the top four with a total of 171 points.
This season looks promising for Syracuse, as they will face several tough opponents. They are set to play against No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, and No. 4 Boston College, among others. So far, they have successfully faced off against two top 20 teams.
This weekend, Syracuse will face No. 11 Princeton, followed by a match against Lafayette on Sunday. Fans are eager to see if Syracuse can maintain their momentum against these competitive teams.
A recent survey of college sports fans shows that excitement for field hockey is on the rise. Many are tuning in to support their teams, with streaming options making it easier than ever.
As the season unfolds, keep an eye on Syracuse. They have already proven they can hold their own against top-ranked opponents. If they continue this trend, there might be big things ahead for the Orange this year.
