Final Day of World Ag Expo in Tulare: Get Ready for Rain and Exciting Highlights!

TULARE, Calif. – The second day of the World Ag Expo is coming to a close, and everyone is gearing up for the final day.

Rain is expected on Thursday, but expo leaders are not worried. They have plans in place for all weather conditions. “World Ag Expo is a rain or shine event,” said Megan Lausten, the marketing manager. A dedicated team works all year to keep the grounds ready for whatever Mother Nature brings.

Rain can be a good thing for farmers, allowing them a moment to pause from their busy schedule. The expo is held every February to align with the farming calendar. “When the show started in 1968, it was a good time for farmers to attend during their off-season,” Lausten explained.

This year, the rain is appreciated, especially as droughts have become more frequent. Local exhibitors like Wise-Conn from Fresno are eager to show off their water-saving technologies. “With recent laws, we must be very efficient in our water use,” said Darryl Hadlich from Wise-Conn. Their systems help track water usage, ensuring that farms use the least amount possible to grow crops effectively.

Another exhibitor, Irrigation King from Oregon, highlights their drip irrigation system as an effective water-saving option. “It can save about 20-30% more water compared to sprinklers. The less water evaporates, the more gets to the plants,” explained Paul Nanson from Irrigation King.

With 1,200 exhibitors in attendance, rain won’t stop the show. There are tents to keep visitors dry while they explore. Doors open at 9 am and close at 4 pm on Thursday, with discounted tickets available online as well as at the door. Children under six can attend for free.
